Dear SELF, One of the most popular festival event during Chaturmasa Sravana Masam is the arrival of Sri Maha Vishnu as SRI KRISHNA to bless us all for ever.

In 2011, Sri Krishna Jayanti is marked on August 21 in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and is some parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. In North India, it is marked on August 22. The Smarta Tradition observes the festival on August 21 and the Vaishnava Tradition on August 22.

There are three different days this event is celebrated according to different belief systems.

GURU POORNIMA-SIGNIFICANCE

Dear SELF, GURU POORNIMA falls from Thursday, July 14th from 12.45 PM to Friday, July 15th 12.08 PM and some people celebrates either ob July 14th or July 15th according to individual choice and convenience!

Undoubtedly, Guru Poornima is the most auspicious day for various reasons.
Guru is the mediator between human & Brahman, the Ultimate. If Brahman is angry Guru can protect us but if Guru gets angry even Brahman (Please do not mistake with Brahma, the creator or brahmin who happens to be born in brahmin family) cannot protect us. Such is the importance of Guru and this is the day to show our gratitude towards Guru.

ANTYESTI SAMSKARA

Dear SELF, The only one TRUTH we all know is those who were born on this sacred Earth, has to depart on one day without any exception. What happens to this body (temple) of ours after the soul departs from this body. The person responsible to aid this process is one's own son who is going to carry on the family tradition. That is why everybody wishes a son if possible. The last sacrament one would have is when the soul departs from this body called in Sanskrit ANTYESTISAMSKARAM (Last rites for the dead body) which is going to happen to all humans all over the globe but in Sanathana Dharma there is a process devised in Vedas/Sastras which we should all know and put it in practice. Some are more fortunate than others.
