SRI KRISHNA JANMASTAMI

Dear SELF, One of the most popular festival event during Chaturmasa Sravana Masam is the arrival of Sri Maha Vishnu as SRI KRISHNA to bless us all for ever.

In 2011, Sri Krishna Jayanti is marked on August 21 in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and is some parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. In North India, it is marked on August 22. The Smarta Tradition observes the festival on August 21 and the Vaishnava Tradition on August 22.

There are three different days this event is celebrated according to different belief systems.

SMARTHA SRI KRISHNASHTAMI on Sunday, August 21st

GOKULSTAMI on Monday, August 22

VAISHNAVA SRIKRISHNASTAMI on Tuesday, August 23

The three places where this even takes place in the most pompous way has to be where Lord Krishna took birth in MADHURA, where he was brought up with His early manifestations at BRINDAVAN and of course the well known one of MokshaPuris, AYODHYA.
