SRI RAMA NAVAMI
Dear SELF, One of the most celebrated event by all in Bharat & those live outside Bharat of Bharat's origin is SRI RAMA NAVAMI, THE DAY Lord Rama came to this world in human form exactly at 12.00 noon on Chaitra sukla Navami on Tuesday, April 12.
Those who would like to know the year Rama was born, please click the link below
http://lakdiva.org/aryan/rama.html
Sri Rama Navami is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama, the 7th Avatar of Lord Vishnu. Sri Rama is portrayed as being the ideal man and his wife Sita is the ideal woman. We all know Sri Rama Navami commemorates the divine birth of Sri Rama. This auspicious day is celebrated on Chaitra sukla Navami (9th day of the bright half of the month Chaitra . In the latter years on the same day, Sita Rama Kalyanam (marriage) took place
In the word Rama,’Ra ‘ came from the sacred Mahamantra ‘Aum Namo naRAyana and ‘Ma’ came from the highly sacred Panchakshari mantra of ‘Aum NaMAh Sivaya’ of Mahadeva (Shankara or Shiva). So Rama nama is the Taraka mantra an auspicious and favourite of both Saivites and Vishnanites.’Where ever 4 Hindus live, Rama and Sita will be there’ so said Swami Vivekananda. The reverse is also equally true. Where ever Rama and Sita live, the people there will remain and live as Hindus. In many Northern parts of Bharat, mutual greetings take the form of ‘Jai Ramjee Ki’
The name Ramayana teaches us two lesions; 1.the value of detachment, 2.the need to become aware of the divine in every being. ‘Be in the world but not of it’. When we utter the word Rama, we first open the mouth with the sound ‘Ra’-all our sins go out when our mouth is open. When we utter Ma, by closing our mouth, the entry is barred against the sins that have gone out. We all know the famous sloka,
“ Sree Raama Raama Raamethi
Rame Raame Manorame
Sahasra Naama Thattulyam
Raama Naama Varanane”
If you utter Rama Nama, it is equivalent to chanting Vishnu Sahasranama. Such is the importance of chanting Rama Nama.
Ramayana teaches us, ‘Renunciation leads to the joy and attachment brings about grief.
It is highly believed that reading, watching or at least listening of the sacred Ramayana around Sri Rama Navami is very beneficial. Fortunately for Telugu people, there is an audio version of Ramayana in 9 parts, which is free on the Internet, which took me 5 hours to listen. We can listen for 9 days approaching Rama Navami. It is really high quality narrating with beautiful language and once you start listening, it is very difficult to stop until it is finished. To access this, please go to www.andhravilas.com on the left side click down loads-devotional songs. Then click Srirama to listen Ushasri Ramayanam. Have a go at it and see what you think!
It is also desirable to read or listen, HANUMAN CHALISA and ADITYA HRIDAYAM, the latter not only on this occasion but also on every Sunday before the Sunrise and the former every Tuesday morning and Saturday morning, these two days being the favourite of Sri Hanuman.
The ‘Ramayana’ literally means ‘the march of Rama’ in search of human values. We all owe a lot to the great sage Valmiki (Ratnakar who was a robber transformed into a great sage) who told the story of Rama to the humanity. As we all know Ramayana is written in so many languages in the world but the one who is responsible for its wide popularity goes Rama charita manus by Goswami Tulasidas. In the modern world, the credit goes to late Sri Ramananda Sagar’s Ramayana serial which was shown on the little box in whole (including Uttar Ramayana) for the first time which enabled to appreciate by all sections and by all ages and by all kinds of people, educated or uneducated with English sub titles, that was watched by millions through out the globe. We are very fortunate to witness the modern marvel in front of our eyes sitting in our own homes, with all the family.
We all know this function is shown in Andhra on television live from Bhadrachalam every year. Bhadrachala Rama is special in that, this is the only place one can see Rama with four hands and only here one can see Sita sitting on Sri Rama’s left lap. Such is the significance of Bhadrachala Sri Rama.
MAY LORD RAMA SHOWERS HIS BLESSINGS ON ALL THE HUMANITY

BIGINING TODAY.....
Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday. It is in the
past and the past will never change. Only I can change by choosing
to do so.
Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will
always be there, waiting for me to make the most of it. But I cannot
make the most of tomorrow without first making the most of today.
Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will see a person
worthy of my respect and admiration. This capable person looking
back at me is someone I enjoy spending time with and someone I would
like to get to know better.
Beginning today I will cherish each moment of my life. I value the
gift bestowed upon me in this world and I will unselfishly share
this gift with others.
Beginning today I will take a moment to step off the beaten path and
to revel in the mysteries I encounter. I will face challenges with
courage and determination. I will overcome what barriers there may
be which hinder my quest for growth and self- improvement.
Beginning today I will take life one day at a time, one step at a
time.
Discouragement will not be allowed to taint my positive self-image,
my desire to succeed or my capacity to love.
Beginning today I walk with renewed faith in human kindness.
Regardless of what has gone before. I believe there is hope for a
brighter and better future.
Beginning today I will open my mind and my heart. I will welcome new
experiences. I will meet new people. I will not expect perfection
from myself nor anyone else: perfection does not exist in an
imperfect world. But I will applaud the attempt to overcome human
foibles.
Beginning today I am responsible for my own happiness and I will do
things that make me happy... admire the beautiful wonders of nature,
listen to my favourite music, pet a kitten or a puppy, soak in a
bubble bath... Pleasure can be found in the most simple of gestures.
Beginning today I will learn something new; I will try something
different; I will savor all the various flavours life has to offer.
I will change what I can and the rest I will let go. I will strive to
become the best me I can possibly be.
Beginning Today, And Everyday. Believe that everything that happens
is for the best and leave the rest up to the Lord to worry about!

GAYATRI MANTRA
Dear SELF, Sanatana Dharma is full of Mantras with power to make us alive, awake and help to lead devotional life and aid us to get the mission of this human birth. I understand there are some rules and regulations for chanting this universal Mantra but my simple logic dictates me anybody who is gifted to talk can chant this most powerful mantra to get the bliss of life.
Let us all listen in English language spoken in a clear understanding way much better than any English speaking soul and you can confirm this only after listening by a divine soul from Bengalore in Karnataka in south India, namely SWAMI SUKHABHODANANDA, many of us might have seen and listened on Aastha International free on TV, channel 894 in UK.
Please click the link below to listen in your own time
http://www.raaga.com/player4/?id=200575&mode=100&rand=0.9430642790897477
Some of us might want to know a bit more about this Mantra how to chant and the history of origin of this Maha Mantra, please click the link below
http://archives.chennaionline.com/columns/variety/Nov07/11article49.asp
Those who have not heard this Mantra yet which I doubt very much, please click the link below to listen and chant
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDnamSM3Z3s
If any of us would like to chant regularly, we can chant at any time without any rituals but with DEVOTION which is important than rituals but we need to do it three times a day wherever we are just before the Sun rise, just before the Sunset and the mid day. As the Sun is not always visible for some, we can do it in the morning between 6.00 AM 6.15 AM, in the evening between 6.00PM 6.15 PM and midday 12.00 noon and some special people also do midnight 12.00! which may not be practical for all.
But the most important thing is WE NEED TO PRACTICE DAILY AT LEAST TWICE IN THE MORNING & EVENING WITH FULL DEVOTION TO GET THE MAXIMUM BENEFIT AND TEACH OUR CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 8 YEARS OF AGE BOTH BOYS & GIRLS AND THEY KEEN KEEP IT GOING ALL THEIR LIFE.
At least let us give an attempt to see how we get on from tomorrow.

SIGNIFICANCE OF BOTTU OR TILAK
Dear SELF, The most common thing all living creatures share is we all are born from parents, the first woman & man we all originated are The Adi Dampatulu namely PARVATI & PARAMESWARA. So we all belongs to one family namely VASUDHAIKA KUTUMBAM (the whole creation belong to one fueamily.
Out of all all the family members, humans are most advanced with the gift of thinking, speaking and acting (thought, word & deed) We are also gifted no other living organism has namely intellect (buddi), capable of discrimination about the world of duality.
There is another pure conscious which has no birth nor death but immortal, which we really are wittnessing all our thoughts, words and deeds which is the main switch without which we cannot appreciate our faculties of thinking, speaking, acting, seeing, hearing, ready and every thing we are capable of WHICH IS OUR REALLY SELF, namely ATHMA which is nothing but PARAMATHMA, the unknown power that controls every thing that happens in this creation which some times called BRAHMAN.
In other words, all living creatures including we humans have one commonunique feature which is being represented out side by a mark on our fore head commonly called by various names like BOTTU, TILAK, NAMAM etc and each one is free to use that symbol according to one's wish and pleasure.
Only human beings can wear this mark on their forehead irrespective of age, sex, marital status which signifies that we are all equal with this common symbol and should ware this mark on our forehead BUT HOW MANY HUMANS WEAR?
5%, I doubt very much even in Bharat, even in Sanatana Dharma and even among women and have your own guess!
The fundamental duty of all humans when we meet others must look first their forehead to see the mark which represents who we really are namely ATMA, but not any other parts of the body. THAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPORTANCE IN THE OLDEST RELIGION OF THE WORLD, NAMELY SANATANA DHARMA.
Those of we who would like to know the importance of bottu or Tilak, please click the link below

LET US THINK TODAY ABOUT THIS AND QUESTION OUR SELF WHY WE ARE NOT FOLLOWING THIS BASIC REQUIREMENT?
Any positive or negative comments are most welcome!

SANDHYAVANDANAM
Dear SELF, About almost 85% world population regularly think of some super power unknown controls every thing in this wonderful creation which we all enjoy. It is everybody's right and the property of selected few. But it is generally labelled to certain individual groups historically which is wrong according to Sanatana Dharma.
Sandhyavandanam means a ritual carried out just before Sunrise and just after sunset and these two periods are considered more auspicious and some people insists that it should be done on midday (12.00 noon) and even some others go to the extent of doing at 12.00 midnight when the day ends and the next day begins.
It is a common belief among many only Brahmins should perform Sandhyavandanam especially after Upanayanam just before start learning life principles under a learned Guru. Some others believe even this is wrong. We are all Human and we are dividedd according the way, we think, speak and act and only these three aspects of life dictates who is who?
If we could understand various aspects of the rituals of SANDHYAVANDANAM, THEN WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHO SHOULD PERFORM REGULARLY THIS RITUAL by clicking the link below
